Photo restoration

We apply basic image and color correction techniques to every photo and slide that we scan. If you need additional photo restoration work, we can provide this at a rate of $50 per hour of work. Just let us know what you need done, and we'll estimate how many hours this will take.

Adding captions to photos We often get asked if we can add captions to photos that we scan. For example, if a photo album has captions for some of the photos, how do you include that in the scan? The answer has to do with something called "metadata." The best way to handle this depends on which application you're using to organize your photos. For example, if you're using iPhoto, then you will add captions as "keywords" for each photo. Unfortunately, there aren't any real shortcuts to this process. You need to scan each photo, then once they're in your application, manually add the keywords for each photo. Don't be too daunted though...this can actually be a lot of fun once you get going, and is a great family activity too! If however you'd rather have someone else do this for you, we can help. We have a "metadata entry service", where we handle this for you. The price is $40 per hour of labor -- during which we will enter 120 captions. If you'd like this service, just mention it when you place your order.

Data recovery

If you've lost data from a hard drive or removable storage device, we may be able to help. Call us to let us know the situation, and we'll let you know if we can help.

Tape splicing

Have a broken video or audio tape? No problem, we can probably splice it. The cost is $40 per splice, including taking apart and re-assembling the cassette tape.

PAL format video

We've got lots of international customers, so handling PAL format is no problem. Please note though that there is a $5 surcharge per PAL tape.

Audio cassettes

We can convert your audio cassettes into MP3 files -- though we DON'T recommend this in most situations. The fact is, audio cassettes tend to be of very low quality, considering that the recordings were sometimes made more than 20 years ago. If you can re-buy the tracks on iTunes, it will work out to about the same cost, and the tracks will be re-mastered and MUCH higher quality.

There are certain situations, though, when it makes sense to digitize audio tapes. For example, if the content is unique and not available elsewhere by download -- like a speech or other unique audio recording.

The price to transfer an audio cassette into MP3 format is $15 per tape. We actually create 2 MP3's for each tape -- one for each side of the tape. If you'd like the tape separated into individual tracks, the price is $30 per tape.

Remote tech support

We try to answer most questions through our how-to videos, FAQs and other areas of our web site. If you find you still need some extra tech support, we can provide that too.

The price is $50 per hour for remote Digital Media support, which we provide through GoToMyAssist.com.

This is how it works: 1) Call us to schedule a remote support session; 2) we'll then email you a link to purchase an hour of remote support for $50, paying securely online by credit card (usually one hour is all that's needed); 3) When we receive your payment, we'll then email you another secure link, which you click on to give us remote access to your computer -- so we can provide "hands on" support. This remote access is terminated when the session ends.
